This is a rare and finely detailed metal armorial badge featuring the official coat of arms of the Kapurthala State, one of the premier princely states of the Punjab during the British Raj. This badge likely served as a uniform embellishment, cap badge, or postilion’s ornament during the late 19th or early 20th century.

Historical Symbols & Meaning:

The coat of arms is rich in Sikh and royal heritage:

Supporters: An Elephant (left) representing the might of India and a Horse (right) symbolizing the lineage of the Ahluwalia dynasty.

The Shield: Features a central Cannon, commemorating the state's military services, topped by a sun and stars.

The Crest: A Sword (Kirpan) at the very top, representing the spiritual and military heritage of the Sikh Gurus.

The Motto: A ribbon at the base inscribed with the Latin phrase "PRO REGE ET PATRIA" (For King and Country).
