A Piece of Maritime History: The "Titanic of the East"

This authentic Chinese blue and white porcelain bowl was salvaged from the legendary Tek Sing ("True Star") shipwreck, which sank on February 6, 1822. Bound for Jakarta with a cargo of silk, spices, and over 350,000 pieces of porcelain, the ship struck a reef in the Gaspar Strait. The tragic loss of nearly 1,600 lives has led history to call it the "Titanic of the East".

Artistry & Design

• Pattern: This bowl features the popular "Flowering Peony" motif in the central well, a traditional symbol of prosperity and honor.

• Kiln Origin: Produced in the famous Dehua kilns of Fujian Province, known for their distinctively smooth glazes.

• Condition: Excellent shipwreck condition. It retains a beautiful, slightly softened glaze typical of porcelain submerged for over 170 years in the South China Sea.
