Enhance your collection with these exquisite antique silver pillow ends, known as Buntal Plates or Kepala Bantal. Originally used by the Malay and Peranakan (Straits Chinese) communities in Southeast Asia, these plates were ceremonial staples for traditional weddings. They were traditionally sewn onto the flat ends of silk or velvet bolsters to decorate the bridal bed, serving as a symbol of status, wealth, and auspicious blessings.

These plates feature intricate repoussé and chasing work, showcasing traditional floral motifs and scrolling foliage. The edges are lined with small perforated holes, specifically designed for stitching the silver directly onto fabric.

Material: Silver (often high-grade or coin silver, common in the 19th/early 20th century).

Technique: Hand-hammered Repoussé (raised relief) and Chasing.

Design: Traditional Southeast Asian floral patterns.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition with a natural aged patina.

Origin: Malaysia / Singapore / Indonesia (Straits Settlements).

Set Includes: Two matching rectangular plates.

• Diameter: 17.8 x 9.5 cm
